WEEKLY REVIEW
06.06.2010

In our
Police Bags and Cases category is a featured vendor
Barre Army Navy. Barre, VT is most notably
recognized for being the "Granite Center of the World", but
they also share the spotlight with one of the best Army Navy
stores.
The bag shown here is the MOVE OUT BAG, and
is priced at $59.99 when this article was posted. With
the cost of bags rising quickly, this is certainly a great
deal. We have been testing the MOVE OUT BAG for a few
weeks, and found its strengths in the simplicity of the bags
design.
A notable feature is the dual handle setup
on the backpack. The straps to carry the bag in a
normal configuration can be stowed away and the bag can be
carried like a tactical suitcase or patrol type bag.
We also enjoyed the ability to stow the waist straps since I
more often used the bag when attending police training, and
did not want to have the waist strap hanging as we stroll
the corridors of JFK.
The zipper pulls were all strong and there
is ample space to tuck gear away for a few days. The
bag also has a chest clip that holds the should straps in
place, and even flexes when breathing heavy so it can be
cinched way down. The bag is very comfortable to wear
for extended periods and we have found the bags from
Barre Army Navy are a great value. Bags go quickly
and some even sell out the same day a sale is posted, but
don't worry because they re-stock very quickly. For

In the
Police Firearm Accessory category is
the manufacturer Crimson. The photo shown above
is the LG-306 which fits
the Smith and Wesson revolver series. It will fit the
round butt K and L frame models 10 thru 19, 48, 53, 56, 64
thru 68, 242, 296, 386, 547, 581, 586, 617, 647, 648, 686
and 696. Crimson makes a number of laser units, and
will cover both revolver, and semi-automatic handguns.
When faced with the use of deadly force,
nothing says stop to an adversary more than a red laser dot.
An overwhelming number of studies indicate the use of lasers
has lowered shootings with several police departments in the
south. Police departments across the country are
starting to realize this and issue lasers as another tool
for police officers. This is also a valuable tool when
using guns for home defense, and give peace of mind when
faced with a traumatic situation.
We tested the Crimson laser on a Smith and
Wesson Airweight, and found it to be a no-brainer addition.
The laser does become a little more difficult to see when
its sunny outside, but I could still see the red dot within
15 feet. Indoor and night time scenarios presented a
much better sight picture, and the red dot was visible with
ease at 25 feet.

In the
Police Boots
and Footwear category is OTB which specializes in making
footwear that can be used in and around water. As
summer approaches we will be featuring a number of products
which are highlighted for summer use. OTB originally
was approached by the Navy Seals to design footwear which
could submerged in water and also used to hike for several
miles. Law Enforcement is quickly starting to utilize
these particular boots in numerous applications.
I tested the footwear and as soon as the
rugged boots were pulled out of the box I hit the ground
running (literally). After breaking the boots in, I
submerged them in water to see if they actually drained as
the folks at OTB claimed. The boots drained quickly
and I was able to keep plugging along without the "squish"
noise or feel of regular boots. The boots have a
fairly stiff sole, but it actually works to the benefit of
the boot because your foot stays planted allowing the
ability to move without feeling clumsy. The boot is
much lighter than other boots, it didn't feel bad to run
even when the boots come right out of the river.
These particular boots are offered in black
(shown above) and green (shown below). For more
information please visit OTB company website at
