MISSION SPEC
- IRENE ADAPTIVE SLING
This sling may be the answer to
many complaints law enforcement officers and tactical
operators share when deploying police rifles. When
brandishing an assault rifle there are certainly concerns,
and many which are very genuine. Most often operators
worry about being able to get on target in a hurry, and
being able to secure their weapon to their body if they have
to go hands on.
The carry method of the sling
has pretty much evolved to a one point (where one point of
the sling is attached to the weapon), and two point (where
two points are attached).
Mission Spec is one of only a few companies that have
combined the two methods into an efficient carry for
operators. The sling is constructed with one inch
nylon and has military grade "mash" hooks to assist with
gloved operation.
Mission Spec offers a great video depicting the sling in
use:
This sling is intuitive to use and we have been testing it
for about a week. We certainly like the ability to
move the weapon to your back enabling an officer to engage a
suspect for handcuffing needs.
In our typical scenario an officer would engage the suspect
with the rifle using the single point sling, and upon the
individual surrendering an officer can switch to the two
points of contact and secure the weapon to
his back. That would enable the officer to place the individual in handcuffs while he is
in the prone position.
The sling also comes with a buffer tube sling mount.
In the event you do not have a connection point on the back
of your rifle the sling can still be attached to the stock
without incurring any extra costs.
