If you had to narrow it down to owning only one bag,
we may have found it. The
GORUCK GR1 shown above is one of the most rugged
bags we have tested to date. The bag is designed by
Jason and the GORUCK team, and his experience as a special
forces operator serves as the inspiration.

The bag is designed to military specifications, made in the
United States, and comes with a lifetime warranty that is
personally backed by the company president. We had the
honor of meeting up with Jason and a few of his fellow Green
Beret's at the ToughMudder event in New Jersey. We
were astonished as the team beat the daylights out of GR1
bag. They climbed under barb wire, swam, and submerged
themselves in mud. The team was running the grueling
12 mile event with their bags loaded with weight, and there
was not one mishap or defect with the bags.

We also tested the bag in a law enforcement setting, and
although it was not subjected to extreme measures it did
handle our daily abuse with ease. We found we were
able to adapt the bag to almost any situation, and its
modular design allowed for rapid transformation.
The bag easily fit helmets, ballistic vests, rifles,
glasses, laptops, extra ammunition, and anything else we
managed to stuff inside the bag. There are two main
pockets in the bag which seems to keep the weight down (some
bags have so many pouches and compartments they become heavy
without any gear loaded).
The pocket closest to the back is used as a hydration pouch
/ laptop holder. The second pocket unzips from the top
to fold flat. It is the largest one and is designed to accommodate
bulky items with ease.
It is readily apparent that some things are worth the
investment and if you abuse bags, this is certainly one of
those instances when money is well spent.
