DANNER - APB BOOTS

Ringing in the new year with a pair of kicks might be
just what the doctor ordered. If so you might want to
consider the
Danner APB Boots which are shown above. We had
the pleasure of testing these boots in blizzard like
conditions, and went to battle against snow drifts that
stacked higher than five feet tall.
Prior to testing the boots they were worn inside for a total
of eight hours just to break in the leather a bit before we
subjected them to any prolonged exposure.
In testing mode we decided to wear two pairs of socks under the boots
since temperatures were well below freezing. The inner
most pair of socks was a pair of
EMS polypropylene
socks, and on the outer layer was a military surplus style
wool sock.
Once
we were layered up we hit a patrol sector and subjected the
boots to some pretty extreme conditions. Subjecting
the boots to snowy New England weather for 16 hours straight
proved to us why so many people own Danners. During
our time outside the boots were subjected to puddles, ice, and snow, lots and
lots of snow. The boots did fantastic and were
comfortable to wear in a car, outside in the elements, or in
the building.
The soles are Vibram and have become an industry standard
for those who are exposed to standing for any length of
time. This particular lacing system is preferred by
most
because the lower half can stay somewhat tight and the upper
half can be completely unlaced in a hurry to help
individuals get out of their boots after a long day.
In a perfect world we would own three pairs of boots.
The first pair would be for the extreme cold, the second
pair would be a hiking style pair of boots for extreme warmth, and the
third pair would be an all around boot that we could adapt
to any condition if necessary.
The
Danner APB is a perfect all around boot and offers
enough features in every category to be considered one of
our favorite boots of all time. For more information
