Ray Ban is probably best known for their signature style
glasses, but most of their models typically do not conform
to law enforcement needs. Most officers like wrap
around style glasses for a number of reasons but most
notably because they stay on their face when struggling with
someone or having to move quickly where most sunglasses will
fly away only to become damaged.
The RB4057 is an excellent wrap around model and easily
meets the needs of law enforcement officials without
screaming "cop". They break the main stream of those
who wear Oakley's (not that there is anything wrong with
Oakley's because we love them) and allow officers to have a
lower profile if looking to blend into a crowd.
We all have the habit of wearing what is most comfortable
and because of our work uniforms most officers can be found
off duty wearing a pair of Gore-Tex Merrell boots, cargo
pants, North Face fleece, and Oakley's. Here is just
another option for officers to choose from and these
sunglasses have robust frames and excellent lenses during
our testing.
They have been tested for a number of months and thrown in
and out of patrol bags, dropped on asphalt, and even worn on
motorized vehicles. They also fit those officers with
a narrow face and seem to be a good fit for almost anyone
looking for a pair of shades. We do recommend going to
the nearest sunglass hut or franchise store selling Ray Bans
to ensure they are a good fit, but we think they are a
worthy investment if you wear sunglasses almost every day.
