SOG SPECIALTY KNIVES AND
TOOLS - AEGIS

Located in the growing list of suppliers of
Police Knives is SOG Specialty Knives and Tools,
which is widely recognized as a leader in blade technology
and efficiency. We test the SOG AEGIS folding
knife and have found it is among the best in the market for
law enforcement applications. We put the knife to work
in almost every application of police work and were
impressed by the capabilities of the AEGIS.
The blade on the knife is 3.5 inches and the overall length
is 8.25 inches. It is very comfortable to hold
weighing in at 3.1 oz, and the blade has a straight edge
finish. From the factory we noticed the blade was very
sharp so we decided to put it to work.
Our first application we used the knife on a few pieces of
strengthened rope (the winch rope became entangled and broke
free from the hook). Like a hot knife
through butter the SOG cut through the frozen rope with ease
several times as we repaired the damage (we are having blizzard like conditions up here in the
north).

Our next hurdle was using the SOG to cut through a
seatbelt. We always deploy our test knives to a
seatbelt since it is very often used in this application.
The knife passed with flying colors and we also used it to
cut anything we could find as we tried to abuse the knife.
Overall we did not experience any trouble, and every officer
who handled the knife wanted one.
The operation of the knife was ergonomic and straight
forward. The opening system is powered by the SOG
ASSISTED TECHNOLOGIES (S.A.T.), and the action is easy from
either hand. The knife also has a safety to prevent
accidental openings, and was comfortable regardless of hand
size.
