Lite Flare (shown above) is hoping to become a beacon in the flare market with their small battery operated flare.  The purpose of the light is to serve as an alternative to conventional incendiary flares and they are available in both red and yellow.  The LED light can be seen for over a mile, runs ..400 hours on two AA batteries, and they claim to withstand the weight of a Boeing 747. 

The battery powered LED flares are safer and will not spark brush, nor will they ignite any fuel on the roadway.  We have yet to see the extended results of the small flare, but the company claims we will get the equivalent of 700 flare uses before having to replace the batteries....time will tell.
